Welcome to Pamlico County Middle School!
We are delighted that you have taken the time to find our website! I hope that you will spend a few minutes with us and learn more about Pamlico County Middle School.
PCMS is a small, rural school in Bayboro, NC. We have an enrollment of 305 and serve students in grades 6-8. We believe that we are the ideal size for a middle school. We are small enough so that everyone knows each other, which allows teachers to plan individualized instruction for students, based on their needs. We are also large enough to provide a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities. Our students are eligible to participate in athletics and compete each year in football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, track & field, and cheerleading. In addition to athletics, students may participate in a variety of elective courses, including band which allows students to join the high school marching band if they choose to do so.
There is a major focus on instructional technology and digital learning at PCMS. All students in grades 6-8 are assigned a laptop computer for their use each day at school. Teachers actively seek ways to integrate technology into lessons to accentuate and amplify the learning experience. This "blended learning" approach allows teachers to engage students in unique ways. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are emphasized and developed. This year, PCMS will officially unveil a state-of-the-art lab for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
PCMS truly has something to offer everyone. Prospective students are invited to stop by at any time for a tour of the school. Prospective volunteers or community supporters are also welcome to stop by and discuss ways to get involved in our school. Through collaboration and teamwork, we will be able to fulfill our mission of preparing our students for success in high school and beyond. We strive everyday for improvement. PCMS is truly a school where the best get better!
