Welcome to Dr. DeLancey’s English Language Arts Class!

About Me:

Hello, I am excited to teach each of you this year! Last year was my first year teaching 8th grade English Language Arts in Pamlico County. I have previously taught Human Communication at the college level in Northern Virginia.

I graduated from West Point, the United States Military Academy, and served as an active-duty Army officer for several years in the Military Intelligence branch. I have a Master's and a PhD in Communication and spent a decade working as a television news reporter and anchor before moving on to leadership and communications roles in the federal government. My federal service includes roles with the US Postal Service, the US Farm Credit Administration, the Department of the Army as a civilian, and the US Agency for Global Media.

I have been married to my husband, Doug - a retired Army Colonel, for 30 years now! Together, we have four incredible children - Jay, a US Naval Academy graduate; Leah, a graduate of Penn State University; Gina, a Citadel graduate; and Claire, a junior at PCHS! Our son, Jay, and his wife, Carinna are expecting our first grandchild, a boy, in October! We are all very excited about welcoming a new baby into the DeLancey family. Doug and I live in Oriental with Claire and our sweet Hurricane Maria (Puerto Rico) rescue pup, Mocha! We love boating on the Neuse River and aspire to complete America's Great Loop. Along with boating, I enjoy running, lifting weights, hiking and fly-fishing with Doug, and going to church.

I love being a part of the Pamlico County Middle School family and I can't wait to meet the 2024 - 2025 students and their parents and caregivers!
