So sorry! With all the end of year festivities we somehow forgot to celebrate our MAY Rotary Students of the Month! So, without further ado. . .
At the May School Board Meeting, held May 1, 2023, two students were selected to represent Pamlico County Schools as Rotary Students of the Month.
Representing Pamlico County Middle School is Dylan Ward. Mrs. Lansche says, “Dylan is relatively new to our school, enrolling in November of this year. Immediately, Dylan began making friends and immersing himself in our school’s culture. Dylan is very hardworking and committed to his schoolwork. As a result, his grades have improved every quarter since he enrolled, most recently landing him on the Principal’s List for quarter 3. He is kind and willing to help others. What his teachers and classmates enjoy most about Dylan is his sense of humor. Dylan exemplifies the attribute of a student-athlete, participating in both basketball and baseball at the middle school this year. We are so proud of the progress he’s made this yearHe’s a CANE to the core. Congratulations Dylan!”
The Pamlico County High School Rotary Student for May is Coralene Ellis. School counselor Betsy McCandless says, “Coralene is an exceptional young woman. She has taken a deep dive into high school and become very active and committed to many of the programs we have in place. Academically, she has high expectations and works so hard in her classes because she truly values learning. She is part of our PCHS ROTC program, including the academic team, Skills USA and Battle of the Books all while participating in competitive dance. Coralene's friends describe her as "a safe place" and the "one they can trust and depend on." She is honest, helpful and hilarious. She treats everyone with genuine kindness, seeking the best in everyone for being exactly who they are. Her character sets her apart from her peers and these are only a few of the reasons Coralene Ellis is deserving of the recognition as Rotary Student of the Month.”
Congratulations to both of these wonderful students.
