At the monthly school board meeting, held June 5th, two students were selected to represent Pamlico County Schools as Rotary Students of the Month.
Kaitlnn “Koi” Mizelle has been selected to represent Pamlico County Middle School. Mrs. Lansche says, “Kaitlynn effortlessly pursues excellence in all circumstances. She is honest, trustworthy, and reliable. In everything she does, academics and behavior, she upholds the standards of PCMS and sets an example for her classmates. Kaitlynn is a model student, who always treats others with respect and empathy, and is a future world changer. She will accomplish whatever she sets her mind to. In the words of one of her classmates, “I can’t put Kois’ awesomeness into words.”
Hakeema Barber is representing Pamlico County High School as Rotary Student of the Month. “Hakeema is determined, tenacious, kind, welcoming and always wears a smile - in fact, her smile is so infectious that Mrs. Collins has said, “When you see Hakeema, you can't help but smile.” She works very hard in her classes and consistently shows up each and every day ready to do better and try harder than the day before. She is so driven that no obstacle in life will stand in her way. In addition to working hard in her academic courses, she is also heavily involved in our athletics programs having participated in volleyball, basketball, and track and field. She is the epitome of school spirit and can always be seen, or heard, cheering on her peers. Hakeema has such a positive and encouraging vibe and is a friend to everyone with whom she comes in contact. After graduation, she plans to attend North Carolina Central University to earn a degree in hospitality and then plans to pursue culinary school. At PCHS we feel that everyone needs a Hakeema in their life.”
Congratulations to both of you - we are proud to have you representing Pamlico County Schools.
