Future Farmers of America Week!

Whew - the Future Farmers of America at PCHS and PCMS have been so busy it’s been hard to keep up!!! We wanted to make sure they were highlighted. Ms. Hannah Hardee, Mr. Stephen Brown and Ms. Jennifer Hacker have worked hard to establish a very active FFA program at both PCMS and PCHS.

Last week was National FFA Week and National Agriculture Teacher Appreciation Day and our students were certainly busy!

The FFA at PCMS celebrated with the whole school the whole week! They had dress-up spirit week that included camo day, Farmer/Rancher day, dress as your favorite teacher day, and wear your FFA colors!
The PCHS FFA officers were featured on the Pamlico County High School FFA page throughout the week. The officers also decided to celebrate National FFA Week by giving back to others. In order to show THEIR appreciation for the support the teachers at PCHS show the FFA program, the officers and Ms. Hardee and Mr. Brown surprised all the teachers with snacks.

They also traveled to New Bern High School to compete in federation-level competitions.

Ladonta Edwards competed in the job interview competition for the first time and did great! Ladonta placed 4th in the federation!

Jesse Hacker, Iain Cowell, Trevor Barton, and Brodie Stevens competed in tool ID. These 4 boys did great and placed 3rd in the federation! This qualified these boys to go to the state level competition in Raleigh this summer.
To round out the fantastic week the Ag teachers and FFA officers traveled to Fred A Anderson Elementary School to greet students and tell them about FFA. The officers were so excited to see the students and can’t wait to go back in the future!

Even with all the activity, two officers were asked to be on the All Stars morning news! They did a fantastic job and had a great attitude towards this unexpected opportunity!

Thank you to these dedicated teachers and hard working students to provide these experiences for our students.
