I am honored to have your child in my science class, and I am looking forward to working with you and your child throughout the year. I believe that science is an extremely engaging and interesting subject. It increases our understanding of the world around us and opens us up to all of the possibilities of new discovery. This year your students will be using a variety of instructional materials including various lab investigations and hands-on activities to help them achieve proficiency in science content. My goal is to foster a classroom learning environment to help your child:

-Develop a strong science vocabulary

-Make connections in science to other academic subjects

-Utilize technology to enhance learning

-Develop critical thinking skills and the ability to challenge assumptions, think creatively, and solve real-life problems

Hello! My name is Maegan Brooks. I grew up in Lindale, a small town in East Texas. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in Psychology and minor in Spanish. Then, I completed a teaching program through LeTourneau University. After graduating, I had the privilege of some really great teaching experiences including working as an Outdoor Education teacher and teaching 7th grade Science for 6 years before moving to North Carolina. I have a wonderful husband, John, and two sweet children, Flyn (9) and Hazel (5). I enjoyed the opportunity to stay at home with them for the past few years and am now looking forward to getting back in the classroom! In my free time, I love to explore everything outdoors, cook, play the guitar, and catch a ball game.
